Why support Mind
Mental health problems can affect anyone, rich or poor, young or old, shattering the lives of those affected and the lives of the people close to them. One in four of us will experience a mental health problem at some point in our lives. For instance:
this week more than 111 people in the UK will kill themselves
each year 22 million prescriptions are issued for tranquillisers
80 million working days are lost due to mental illness every year
the largest killer of young men is suicide
according to the World Health Organisation, depression will be the second most common killer in the world by 2020, surpassing both heart disease and Aids

Joining Mind
Mind in Brighton and Hove welcomes all new members. The benefits of becoming a member are:
regular newsletters about the work and developments of the organisation
voting rights at our AGM
a copy of the annual report
invitations to presentations/events

Members also help with our work in many different ways. They:
take part in fundraising initiatives
become trustees
volunteer
We are always willing to consider suggestions from our members on how they would like to become more involved in the organisation.

Membership fees per year are £1 (unwaged) and £5 (waged). Membership lasts for one year, 1 April – 31 March, when a reminder letter is sent out for renewal.
