West Sussex Wellbeing Initiatives
Managed by Mind in Brighton and Hove

We work to create a better life for anyone in West Sussex affected by mental health and wellbeing problems. We currently provide the following services:

Advice and Information
The Advice and Information Service is centred on the Head Forward website. This provides free 24-hour information on a wide range of general mental health and wellbeing topics, and also lists comprehensive details of West Sussex-based services. Visit the Head Forward page on this site or go directly to the Head Forward website. For those without easy access to the internet there is also a phone and email service.

Learning Initiatives
The Learning Initiatives Service is a partnership project with West Sussex Adult & Community Learning Service. Learning Initiatives are programmes of adult education-type classes which run during the day in community venues, and are open to people with mental health problems and their carers. They aim to rebuild self-confidence, to encourage social opportunities, and, where relevant, to act as a stepping stone to learning and/or employment.

Patients Council
The Patients Council gives inpatients at Crawley’s Langley Green Hospital the opportunity to have a voice and participate in the improvement of their experiences during their stay. Monthly meetings give everyone a chance to have their say and discuss concerns. All issues are raised with the Modern Matron who then responds and feeds back comments to all patients. If you are interested in volunteering to help facilitate the Patients Council, please get in touch with us.

Peer Mentoring Initiative
This service supports people with mental health needs to explore what they wish to achieve in their lives, providing practical advice and support to help them work toward their goals. Volunteers are trained as mentors and are supported to reflect on their own recovery and how their experiences can positively influence the support they give to mentees. Each mentor/mentee match is time-focused with the aim to reach agreed goals. Areas covered are Crawley, Horsham and Mid Sussex.

Service Opening Hours
Our Horsham office is usually open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (except Bank Holidays and between Christmas and New Year). Please note that personal visits are by appointment only as we cannot guarantee staff availability for any particular day/time.
