Young People and Mental Wellbeing

Mental ill health is still something that people feel uncomfortable about. Although we know more about mental health than ever before, mental health is still shrouded with stigma and prejudice.

Young people with some experience of mental health issues (direct or indirect), are able to offer guidance on how to reduce stigma, increase awareness and promote mental wellbeing.

With the support of such young people, Mind in Brighton and Hove aims to make a difference by:
raising awareness of young people’s mental health experiences
promoting awareness of young people’s resilience and mental well being
improving local services

The Right Here project offers resilience-building activities through subsidised access to sports, arts and other recreational activities. It co-ordinates promotional campaigns work towards reducing stigma and promoting mental wellbeing in young people.

Mind in Brighton and Hove also offers Speak Your Mind advocacy for young people aged 11 – 19, as well as advocacy for those over 19.

As part of a project called Experience in Mind, young people developed the materials below, aimed at raising awareness and reducing stigma.
