Volunteer with Us

The time, dedication and range of skills volunteers bring to our services is invaluable in helping us to achieve our aims.

Giving your time for others can improve your wellbeing too

Volunteering is a great way to build skills and confidence, meet new people and face new challenges. At Mind in Brighton and Hove, we recruit and support volunteers across a range of our services to help local people get the support that they need to help with their mental health.

Ways you can Volunteer

  • Men in Mind provides a range of training and skills activities to engage and equip men in East Sussex to have supportive conversations about mental health and wellbeing with their peers. This project has been set up to reduce stigma around men’s mental health by giving men the skills and confidence to talk about mental health and suicide and to know how to support themselves and others.

The project focuses on engaging public facing businesses and spaces where men work and visit such as barbers, tattoo studios, sports venues, construction, bus companies, refuse collection, fire services etc. and design bespoke training programmes tailored to their needs. The project also aims to build a peer support network for men who engage with training to access on an ongoing basis.

  • The Lighthouse is a specialist treatment service for people with a diagnosis of Personality Disorder living in Brighton and Hove.

We are based at the Allen Centre in Hove and are looking for volunteers to assist us to run a community programme of activities.

Activities include Gardening, Games, Cooking, Peer Support, Workshops, Arts and Crafts, Singing, Creative Writing, Knitting and Crochet.

As a volunteer you will help staff to facilitate peer support spaces and other activities such as gardening, art and cooking in the centre. Experience and skills in group work would be helpful along with an interest in peer support and supporting people to build their confidence and own skills.

Full training and ongoing supervision are provided and you will be offered the opportunity to get involved in outside training and other activities at the Lighthouse.
