Community Kitchen courses Summer 2019

Brighton and Hove Food Partnership have the  following courses coming up in the Community Kitchen:

  • Cooking on a BudgetThursday 18 Jul 2019 – Thursday 15 Aug 2019 – 5 x Thursdays  10:00 am  – 12:30 pm

In this five-week course, participants learn how to create delicious, low-cost meals with store cupboard essentials – from chilli to curry, and soups to cakes – as well as how to love (and make the most of) any leftovers. Each session includes a shared lunch, and most dishes cooked during the course are vegetarian. The course will also cover key cookery skills, advice on healthy eating and nutrition and tips for smarter shopping.

We ask for a suggested donation of just £5 per week (total £25) to secure a place. Speak to us if cost is a barrier. Information and an application form on our website

  • Old Spice cookery group (for those aged 65+) –  starts Thursday 19 Sep 2019 for 5 x Thursdays   10:30 am  – 1:00 pm

The emphasis here is on fun, friendship and supporting each other as we cook from scratch and develop more kitchen skills. Cooking and eating with others has been shown to have a positive effect on our mental health and wellbeing at any age. The course will cover themes on making the most of leftovers and eating a well-balanced and nutritious diet without compromising on flavour or spending a fortune. We will also explore how what we eat affects how we feel in a food and mood workshop. At the end of each session we will enjoy the food we have created together.

  • Time to Cook Club – monthly group for people with dementia and their carers

All courses are pay by donation
