‍World Mental Health Day October 10th

This year the theme is Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change. It recognises that people with lived experience (PWLE) of mental health have knowledge and expertise that is vital in shaping the policies, services and decisions that affect their lives.

The campaign acknowledges that too often, PWLE are asked to share their stories but are excluded from decisions. It recognises that meaningful engagement extends beyond simply being heard and PWLE should have the right to influence decisions, co-design services, strengthen peer-led approaches, challenge stigma and strengthen accountability.

When PWLE are meaningfully engaged, mental health systems are likely to become more person-centred, rights-based and responsive to people's needs and concerns. For more information go to www.wmhdofficial.com/

As part of World Mental Health Day National Mind, is promoting their campaign See Me Now to transform the future of mental health support, based on ‘same-day open access’.  The campaign states everyone should have access to mental health support that makes them feel seen, starting on the day they reach out. To read about the campaign and how to get involved please go to www.mind.org.uk/news-campaigns/our-campaigns/see-me-now/

Our Mental Health Advice Service will be linking with local Mind Shops during the week to raise awareness about both campaigns and to raise general awareness about mental health and promote how people can access support and get involved in campaigning for change.

We will also be doing promotions on our social media and in our reception area.

If you would like to speak to one of our Mental Health Advice Team about how you are feeling and how to access support locally, please email us on info@mindcharity.co.uk or call us on 01273 666950
