Spotlight - Brighton artist AMANZI

During Mental Health Awareness Week, Mind In Brighton and Hove connected with Brighton artist AMANZI who’s latest EP was influenced by her own personal experiences with mental health.

Born and based in Brighton with South African roots, AMANZI’s story is one of resilience and reinvention. Her songs reflect on loss, love, self-discovery, and the struggles of the British working class – turning hardship into connection.

AMANZI herself says;

"Give Us Some Time is about the struggles we face due to the pressures of life and just living. Mental health impacts us all in different ways and it’s ok not always be ok. Mind In Brighton and Hove is there if you are in need of support, or are looking for an amazing charity to support." – AMANZI

AMANZI (@amanzi.music) is proud to support Mind In Brighton and Hove (@MindBrighton) as the charity works to improve local services, and together we both want to raise awareness and promote mental health and wellbeing. Most importantly Mind in Brighton & Hove treat people with experience of mental health issues fairly, positively, supportively and with respect.

More about AMANZI’s self-titled EP

Chances are, you’ve already heard AMANZI’s voice.

Her raw, powerful vocals have shaped global hits – from ‘iilliaa’s’, Life Gets Hard and Ely Oaks’ Running Around to sample packs used by Kygo and Tiësto - amassing millions of streams. For years, her voice was everywhere, yet she remained in the dark, until now.

With her debut self-titled EP released on April 4th, AMANZI is finally stepping into the spotlight. The lead single, Give Us Some Time, is a raw, vulnerable response to the cost-of-living crisis - a time when AMANZI and the people closest to her were trapped in a cycle of anxiety, burnout, and survival. “It felt like we were all constantly working, constantly exhausted, and still barely getting by,” she shares. What began as a personal song became something bigger - a reflection on a generation pushed to its limits. The track captures a quiet, honest plea for a moment to breathe, transforming a painful reality into a moment of solidarity and release. “We aren’t asking for much - just a little time, some space to feel okay again.”.
