Blue Any Day: 19th January

Blue Any Day is an awareness day that aims to dispel the myth of ‘Blue Monday’, reminding us that you can feel ‘Blue’ on any day of the year.

Blue Monday is the idea that the third Monday in January is the ‘most depressing day of the year’. However this isn’t backed up by any evidence and was actually coined as a way for travel companies to sell holidays in January to beat the ‘winter blues’.

To mark Blue Any Day this year, we are offering a free taster session of our Mental Health Awareness Webinar. Click here to reserve a place: #BlueAnyDay: Mental Health Awareness Webinar - Mind in Brighton and Hove Tickets, Mon, Jan 19, 2026 at 1:00 PM | Eventbrite

You can read about a service user, Jessica’s, experience of depression and ‘Blue Monday’ via their blog hosted by National Mind: Jessica blogs about her experience with depression and how she feels about so-called 'Blue Monday'.

The Mental Health Foundation have also shared some useful information and tips in their article What does Blue Monday mean for our mental health?

Any of us can experience low mood or depression at any time of year. For support and information on depression click here.
