Day For Thorpey 19th June 2026
Mind in Brighton and Hove are partnering with Sussex Cricket Ground to celebrate A Day for Thorpey.
A Day for Thorpey celebrates the life of late England cricketer, Graham Thorpe MBE. Taking place at the Kia Oval on 19 June on day 3 of the test between the England and New Zealand men’s cricket teams, and the day will raise awareness of mental health and funds for Mind’s cricket programme “Thorpey’s Bat and Chat.”. In total nine Cricket grounds and local Minds will be taking part to raise awareness.
We will be a Sussex Cricket Ground on the 19th June giving out free mental health and wellbeing resources and encouraging conversations on looking after your mental health. Come and visit us at our stall near the main entrance.
A big thank you and shout out to Sussex Cricket Ground for letting us have space and be present on the day.
The 12-week Bat & Chat programme uses cricket to bring people together and create supportive spaces where people can talk openly about their mental health. The programme is being delivered by 10 local Minds in partnership with cricket clubs and county cricket foundations.
The 2026 event will once again bring together the cricket and mental health communities to celebrate Graham Thorpe’s enduring influence on and off the pitch, while continuing to raise awareness of the importance of mental health support and early conversations.
